2021 Winter Director’s Message – New Events Planned for 2021

It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to hold an event without the worry of Covid-19, but things are slowly beginning to change. Though the pandemic is still with us, we are able to plan for the year ahead following the CDC guidelines. Please check the event schedule often for upcoming events. At this time, there are already seven events listed for this year and next. And as always, if you know of an event happening in your area, or would like to organize one, please let me know so that we can publicize it.

The Ford Car Club Council, which Baron Night and I are members of, is planning to bring back Fabulous Fords Forever this year at the Irwindale Raceway on June 13th. This will be our first major event of the year and is important to us because Continentals will be featured in the “Milestone” area. If you own a 1940-2000 Continental, and would like to have your car considered for the Milestone area, please let me know. Watch for details coming soon.

It’s unfortunate that the Western National Meet in Palm Springs had to be postponed until next year, but we feel it was the right decision.  Many hours of planning for the event have already been spent, with many more to come. Anyone who would like to volunteer to help out with the meet is encouraged to do so. Please contact me or one of the other board members.  With everyone’s help, this will be sure to be an event that will long be remembered!

Lastly, I’d like to remind everyone that we have a fabulous Museum at the Gilmore, and it needs the support of all members. It is YOUR museum!  The museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and counts on a variety of sources for support, including your donations. They are what  fuel our exhibits and support our education programs. They also give us the operating dollars that are the foundation for an incredible visitor experience that includes a museum full of historic vehicles and hundreds of artifacts.
