Car Show Season is in Full Swing; Future Shows Feature All Brands and Charity Sponsors

The calendar is moving relentlessly toward summer and those long, warm days with endless activities for adults and families.  All the long winter nights getting your classic and collectible cars ready for show season are paying off in the coming days and weeks with lots of opportunities to show the results of your hard work. Why not take your vehicle to one of the many upcoming events?  Not only will you get to to socialize and share stories about your favorite subject—cars—with fellow enthusiasts, but in most cases you’ll also be supporting a very worthy charitable cause. Even if your car isn’t on display you can still do your part just by showing up. We know the time invested will be worth it!

Here are a few of the events coming up.  While this is by no means an exhaustive list, it is representative of the car shows—-large and small—-that may be in your area. If there are any you wish to see publicized on our website, send us the links, and if you go, forward photos. We’d love to hear from you!

The next event for LCOC members is the Huntington Beach Concours which runs June 1 and 2.  Click here for more information about this show now in its 34th year.  Hot rods and customs will be featured on Saturday June 1 and classics, collectibles and motorcycles on Sunday June 2.

Traditionally, this event has been a time for LCOC members to gather and socialize with other members with cars of all eras on display. Our collector cars are collocated in a beautiful shaded area near a scenic pond that is perfect for photos.  We will have coffee and donuts for our exhibitors and they may end up with one of the many 1st, 2nd or 3rd place awards granted by the show committee. Full details and registration forms are available here.  This year on June 2nd  there will be a Salute to Pony Cars (1964 – 1972), all “Z” Cars, Datsun and Nissan, and BMW. Also Saluting Honda 750 Four Motorcycles and BMW /2 (’55 to ’69) Motorcycles.  Grand Marshal Dave Kunz, KABC-TV, Automotive Specialist,  will be there to meet and mingle with fans.

Next up is the San Marino Concours on Sunday June 9 at beautiful Lacy Park in San Marino.  The upscale show is fast becoming one of the best in the San Gabriel Valley,

This year the show has been supersized with the addition of the Concorso Ferrari as well as a very broad class offering that attracted a record number of cars. Rare and unusual classic vehicles as well as beloved and familiar collector cars will be among the vehicles on display. Three LCOC members, Glenn Gordon, Jim Ayres and Elayne Bendel, will be part of the show this year. Click here for more info about this event.

On June 23 the Highway Earth Show is scheduled at scenic Franklin Park, 2600 Franklin Canyon Drive, Beverly Hills, CA, 90210. Besides its scenic beauty this site is also famous for the opening title scene of the Andy Griffith Show where Andy and his young son Opie (Ron Howard) are heading to the old fishing hole.

The car show is the brainchild of Evan Klein, a Los Angeles based automotive photographer and dedicated car lover. He shoots for all your favorite car magazines, Motor Trend, Road and Track, Octane, Automobile, Hagerty, as well as new car manufacturers. Highway Earth came from his love for cars and wanting others to have a place to share their stories. When he’s not shooting, you’ll probably find him keeping his 1967 Alfa Giulia on the road.  Click here for more information about Evan and this show..
