Go-Gos and Fireworks Spectacular at Hollywood Bowl Begin July 4 Celebration

LCOC members joined with friends from The Boeing Company at a spectacular concert and fireworks display at Hollywood Bowl kicking off the 2018 Fourth of July holiday. An onsite wine-enhanced picnic began the evening. Then the L.A. Philharmonic performed popular Sousa’s marches and military favorites along with a musical salute to members of all the armed forces in an event celebrating the USA’s 242nd birthday. One of the most popular female performing groups of all time, the Go-Gos, were the guest headliners.  After 40 years in the limelight this Hall of Fame band is still rocking the house and getting the audience on their feet and dancing. Their Hollywood Bowl appearance was no exception. A party atmosphere prevailed as red, white and blue-clad visitors waved wands and danced to the rock n’ roll rhythms. Everyone sang along as the Go-Gos closed with the classic number “We’ve Got the Beat.”

Spectacular fireworks synchronized to the music shot skyward from the top of the bowl’s famous band shell drew cheers of the crowd. Who wouldn’t want to celebrate America’s birthday this way?
