Jim Ayres Named as Trustee of the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation

Congratulations are in order to our own LCOC Western Region Director Jim Ayres who has been named as a trustee of the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation, effective Jan. 1, 2020. Jim is already on the job having participated in his first conference call earlier this month.

In his new role he will continue his work of recent years promoting the Lincoln heritage and brand and the goals of the foundation. His special focus will be on unifying the efforts of individual stakeholders in the Lincoln Community and expanding and enhancing the foundation’s social media presence.

“I would encourage all of us who love Lincolns to join the foundation and donate to it to continue its educational and branding work which benefits our entire Lincoln collector community. All donations are tax deductible, so you get a nice direct benefit for doing a good thing,” Jim said. The foundation is currently about two-thirds of the way through a campaign to raise $1.5 million to fund an endowment to help pay for operation of the Lincoln Museum. The purpose of the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation is:

I. The creation and maintenance of a comprehensive, properly curated and protected Lincoln archive.

II. Supporting a premier, state-of-the-art museum to preserve and display Lincoln automobiles and memorabilia.

III. Implementation of an active educational outreach program, making the best use of the archive, the museum, and the extensive knowledge of club members.

The four major affinity clubs: Lincoln Owners Club, Lincoln-Zephyr Owners Club, Road Race Lincoln Register and our own Lincoln and Continental Owners Club, along with other friends of the Lincoln brand, incorporated the foundation. Jim joins their leaders, along with other well-known Lincoln advocates, among the foundation’s officers and trustees.

The foundation’s spirit shines at the Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum & Research Center at the Gilmore Museum Campus in Hickory Corners, Mich, near Kalamazoo. The museum displays Lincoln automobiles and memorabilia down through the years and is the hub of the foundation’s educational and outreach programs.

The seventh annual Lincoln Homecoming will celebrate the centennial of the founding of the Lincoln Motor Company to build passenger cars. The Homecoming will be held August 6 – 9 at the Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum.  Sponsorship of the Homecoming rotates among the four affinity clubs and this year’s sponsor is LCOC.

Homecoming will include LCOC”s only national meet for 2020. The Homecoming for Lincoln aficionados is a must-do at least once and repeat as many times as possible. Registration information will be posted soon. Click here to view a narrative and access the 2020 Homecoming program of events.
