A 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III in San Diego, CA needs restoration. Rare 2-door coupe (2,328 made, fewer than the convertible) with 90,453 miles. I have owned it for 34 years, and I am the third owner. All three owners located in San Diego, away from salt, snow, and ice. It was a pleasure to drive and show off for almost two decades, but it has been unused in my driveway for the last 19 years (last registered to operate in California in 2002). The photos were taken on 9/20/21, and more are available.
The car is not running, but it is complete except for front fender ornaments. The engine is original and intact. You won’t have to hunt down any body panels or trim parts, inside or out. There is general surface rust and pitted chrome, and some rust-through at top of rear fenders and roof. The inside is in fairly good shape after 60 years, and the black and white interior means you can paint the car the color of your dreams. It has three seat belts for the front seat, and an added hazard light switch on the dash. As in all ’58 Mark IIIs, the rear window across the back goes up and down.
It’s powered by a 430 c.i. 375 hp V-8, with automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows, six-way power seat, AM radio, power antenna, automatic headlamp dimmer and air conditioning. This is a great car that can be truly special. For the owner who wants an automobile with the size, style and glamour that only a late 50’s American classic can deliver.
