Rare Classics Combine with Beloved Collectibles at 34th Annual Huntington Beach Concours

After a month of “May Gray,” “June Gloom” arrived right on schedule this past Saturday June 1, but the overcast conditions failed to dampen the enthusiasm of hundreds of exhibitors and visitors to the 34th annual Huntington Beach Concours. On Saturday hot rods and customs were displayed and on Sunday rare classics such as a pair of Jordans, a 1949 Riley, Sunbeam roadster, a gorgeous 1938 BMW roadster, and a genuine 2005 Corvette Indy Pace Car shared the field with elegant Rolls Royces, Packards, Pony Cars, Thunderbirds, motorcycles of every description, our Lincolns, of course, and many others. Click here to take a video tour around the grounds courtesy of Jim Ayres to get a partial feel for the show.

There was almost too much eye candy. Besides the cars, there was an impressive exhibit of model trains, eye painting for kids, Mother’s car care products, and a lone unicycle rider circling the field. His feat left me wondering if doing that is really as hard as it looks!

There were 10 Lincolns displayed ranging from a 1928 sedan survivor belonging to Mike Adams to Bob Blevins’ 1989 Town Car. The nearby Lincoln Experience Center enhanced the show by sending two 2019 models—-a brand new Navigator and an elegant Continental.

As in the past, our friends from the Thunderbirds of Southern California voted for their favorite Lincoln. Ron and Helen Morin received the LCOC’s vote for their favorite Thunderbird. This year’s Favorite Lincoln winner was Casey Lesher and his 1975 Mark IV.

Jack Swing, left, presents Thunderbirds of Southern California Favorite Lincoln Award to Casey Lesher for his 1975 Mark IV.

Helen Morin gets LCOC Favorite Thunderbird Award from Jim Ayres for her 1966.
