Wine & Wheels Event in Palm Springs

Sunday evening, February 26, during Modernism Week, Western Region club members gathered in Deepwell Estates to share wine and hors d’oeuvres in a mid-century setting. Each year during the ten day celebration of all things modern, Kerry & Stacy Roscoe rent a classic Mid-Century home by one of the featured architects for their stay in Palm Springs, enabling them to “live what they are learning” in the lectures, films and home tours.

This year’s house was designed by Donald Wexler, known for situating his houses to take advantage of the views of the San Jacinto Mountains. Mid-century home design embraces indoor-outdoor living, lots of glass & light, and open-concept spaces which lend themselves to entertaining. This gem was the epitome of that, with site lines both from the pool through the house and atriums, and toward the sunset over the mountain tops. Over 25 club members and guests from as far away as Orange County & Oregon met for an evening of casual camaraderie in a house made for a party. They lined the street of this mid-century neighborhood of custom homes with 14 classic cars befitting the era, so the partyers mingled out front as well. Even the neighbors came out to enjoy the colorful display of great American design. It was a perfect night for cruising the streets of Palm Springs with the top down.
