LCOC members and friends with appropriate vehicles (1960s or older) can join Santa and Lightning McQueen from the movie Cars with car owners from other clubs in supporting an eclectic community service holiday parade Dec. 18 in Lake Forest to be followed by an optional lunch for the participants.
The goal is to assemble around 70 special vehicles for the parade. They have dozens of cars set up to date. All they need to complete the picture is you and your car!
The sponsoring organization is Just Having Fun (JHF), an informal association of owners of unique vehicles based in South Orange County, CA who band together to share friendship and their love of collector cars at in-person community service events.
Jeeps, Corvettes, hot rods, customs and classics with “cool factor” are being sought for the Lake Forest parade.
Contact email@example.com by Nov 13 if you are interested in participating with your name, make and model of your vehicle and whether you wish to join in the post-parade lunch.
JHF gained greater prominence in South County after Covid-19 forced cancellation of various municipal events. Organizer Don Yegan stepped in with JHF volunteers and their cars to fill the void. The group has sponsored successful parades plus dozens of other activities in the area.
A sample activity shows JHF cars below at this year’s Laguna Woods Memorial Day parade and car display.
JHF events can range from holiday-related parades, to honoring a veteran on a 75th birthday, a group drive-by and display at a senior center, a dedicated cruise for a child who has lost a parent, or a celebration of life for a departed car enthusiast. JHF’s objective is to use collector cars to bring joy to others, as well as to their owners. Social outings and auto-related field trips such as dynamometer tests also are ad hoc JHF calendar events.
