The last few months have been extremely busy for me as I moved on April 1st after 41 years at the same place in Costa Mesa. It’s been quite a challenge getting settled in my new place. Hence my procrastination in writing this message and my lack of attendance at many events.
The LCOC Western National Meet is behind us, as well as the Huntington Beach Concours. Both were great events! If you didn’t attend either event, you missed a lot of fun, but you can read all about what you missed elsewhere on this site. Feel free to browse around for those stories.
As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ford’s ownership of Lincoln, there are two more important events coming up soon; the Lincoln Homecoming at the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan, and the Pebble Beach Concours in Carmel, California. We’ll have more information about both activities in the coming days and weeks. We hope at least some of you will be able to attend.
Since the events are only a week apart I’ll only be able to attend one, so will be going to Pebble Beach along with three other board members. Lincoln will be a featured marque at the Pebble Beach Concours and I look forward to seeing many LCOC members there. Classic Car Day at the California State Fair in Sacramento is July 29.
Also coming up in August is the San Marino Motor Classic. This is one of the best car events in SoCal and several of our LCOC members have entered. We will have full coverage of the classic concours and hopefully at least some, if not all, of our entrants will take home prizes.
Also ahead in August we will be seeking nominees for three LCOC Western Region board of managers posts that will be expiring at the end of the year. If you would like to influence the direction of the club or become more active we encourage you to “throw your hat in the ring” when the call for candidates is announced early next month.
Finally, the date and location of our biggest fall event—The Big 4 Car Show and Picnic—have been set. We will be showing our Lincolns and socializing with owners of other Cadillac, Imperial and Packard luxury cars On Oct 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Laguna Niguel Park. After a 2-year absence due to Covid, the potluck aspect of the big event returns for 2022. Attendance is capacity-limited by the park management so register early and don’t miss out. Click here for more information and check out our Calendar of Events periodically to see what else is happening in the region.
And don’t forget to let us know what you would enjoy doing as a club. Copy this address Info@lcocwestern.org into your email application to send your feedback.
