The deadline for coming forward as a candidate for the LCOC Western Region Board of Managers is Tuesday Aug. 31 so you must submit your intent to run by then.
Three LCOC Western Region Board of Managers’ terms expire at the end of 2021 and we are asking all members of the region—including incumbents— to consider running for one of the open positions. Our region covers all of California and Nevada.
To be eligible to run you need to be an LCOC Western Region member in good standing. Why run? Because your board determines the direction and activities as well as the operating budget for the LCOC Western Region. Other reasons to run? To meet and socialize with other board and general members, learn more about your classic car and have fun!
Terms of board members Elayne Bendel, Jim Finley and Arv Larson expire at the end of this year. A nominating committee of Stacy Roscoe and Jim Ayres is charged with developing a slate of candidates by the end of August. However, any member in good standing may self-nominate by submitting a photo and a short write-up of their qualifications to the Western Region secretary by Aug 31. (See below for details)
Elections will occur during September and officers will be selected for one-year terms by the incoming board at our annual meeting Oct. 16, 2021 in Cathedral City, CA. Terms of the newly elected board members will begin Jan. 1, 2022.
Board members serve three-year terms. There is generally one face-to-face board meeting in a calendar year to which any and all Western Region members also are invited with about 3 additional teleconference board meetings scheduled by the director. With the Western Region hosting the LCOC Western National Meet in Palm Springs in 2022 now is the perfect time to become a member of the board and join in the fun of planning the meet!
Interested candidates—including incumbents—should submit a digital photo of themselves and a description of about 150 words of their background and why they wish to serve as a member of the board to email@example.com by Aug 31 of this year to be entered onto the ballot with a copy to firstname.lastname@example.org .
