In the first Western Region board meeting since our election in Sep/Oct the board voted to retain our voluntary donation policy for 2024!
This is in lieu of mandatory dues for regional membership. Last year the board voted to abolish the dues on an experimental basis to see if the region could sustain operations on donations only. Thanks to the generosity of our board and many other members, we were able to cover all our requirements and leave a reserve in savings to handle emergencies and extra expenses.
After a very active 2023 in which we held nearly 30 individual and joint events with other car clubs we are looking forward to a busy and fun year ahead.
Click here if you wish to end this year on a high note with a donation to the Western Region. We are immensely grateful for your active support and enjoyment of our activities and your generosity.
In other business, the board certified the election results. with incumbents Bazil LaRoche and Jeremy Sanford and newcomer Tom Williams ratified for new 3-year terms.
Election of officers returned all incumbents to office for 2024: Jim Ayres, director; Jeremy Sanford, deputy director; Jim Finley, secretary; Bazil LaRoche, treasurer and Scott Balanda, membership secretary. Elayne Bendel continues as Web administrator and Stacy Roscoe as LCOC National liaison.
The board voted to purchase commemorative bricks at the Lincoln Museum in Hickory Corners, MI, for two very active and prominent members of our region who passed away this year—Jan McNiel, who was a fixture at club events for many years and served multiple terms as our treasurer, and Shirley Richards, who was active at many events and was membership secretary for a number of years.
Looking ahead to 2024, the board announced plans for popular activities including the January Imperial Club BBQ, to which LCOC members have been invited for many years, a new Lincolns and Lattes event sponsored by Ford at its Irvine Design Studio on Feb. 3, our annual Kickoff Luncheon with the Cadillac & LaSalle Club at Lakewood Country Club on Feb. 25, Fabulous Fords Forever March 21 and the Huntington Beach Concours, June 2. Also in the works are visits to the Mercedes Classic Car Center in Long Beach and a second weekend in Las Vegas early next year.
