Nothing says it better than the giant license plate welcoming visitors to 1,000,000 square feet of exhibit base as the LA Auto Show got underway at the Convention Center. Celebrating 118 years of showcasing the best of what’s new on wheels, the show will attract thousands of enthusiasts over its 10-day run.. Yes that’s right. The first LA Auto Show was way back in 1907! Who could have imagined back then the marvels to be displayed this year—from self-driving cars, rugged trucks and outdoor vehicles, huge motor homes to the last word in luxury?

And speaking of luxury, Lincoln Motor Company returned in 2025 with is current lineup of SUVs, led by its flagship Navigator Black Label, which drew an admiring crowd, who eagerly scrambled in and out of the three-row vehicle.

Open doors beckoned visitors onboard the beautiful Nautilus, Motor Trend’s 2025 SUV of the Year, and they were treated to a preview of Lincoln’s Rejuvenate feature—a perfect blend of visual, audio and scent experiences. Fortunately, the brand is thriving, with over 31,000 vehicles sold from April through June alone, Lincoln’s best quarterly showing in 18 years! This bodes well for new models in the pipeline, and Lincoln is planning a Corsair replacement after the 2026 model year. No hint yet on what is coming or exactly when, but enthusiasts have posted no end of CGI concepts for new versions of the Continental nameplate in the future. Lincoln also has introduced some real concepts in recent years, but none was displayed at the Convention Center.

That was not the case for Corvette, which showcased a spectacular CX concept car, envisioned as an all-electric vehicle with 2,000 HP, featuring four motors—one at each wheel— and carbon monocoque construction.

Ford focused on its current line of trucks and SUVs with Mustang displayed as its last remaining sedan. The all-electric Ford Lightning truck featured its ‘frunk’, a large open compartment under the hood occupying most of the space that would be reserved for an engine in a conventional vehicle. Jim Ayres tested a display demonstrating how one might utilize the frunk for cargo in addition to the Lightning’s rear bed.

Dodge introduced is new 550 HP Charger 2-door coupe. And its Scat Pack trim has an unusual reversed ‘six pack’ badge named for its engine embedded in the hood.

Show visitors enjoyed plenty of interactive fun including including driving simulators, conventional test drives and indoor track experiences. Jeep had one of the best hands-on tests where show goers could drive some Jeep vehicles around a challenging obstacle course. An entire lower floor was dedicated to older custom vehicles—mostly Chevys—and vendors selling all types of items from model cars to silver chain necklaces.

Up above, some special cars were displayed including a Toyota truck filled with golden basketballs celebrating the car maker’s 50-year partnership with the L.A. Lakers. A turquoise VW bus that survived the Palisades fire last January, though damaged, was fully restored by VW and dubbed A Beacon of Hope as it sat beside the new VW models. Porsches, exotic Maseratis, a Volvo motor home, Toyota Supra and new red Alfa Romeo Tonale sedan all were part of the fun. Subaru’s exhibit recreated an outdoor national park setting.

An untold number of feet trod acres of newly laid carpet throughout the huge venue and thousands more are expected to visit during the coming week before the show closes on Nov. 30.
