Great news LCOC! Our friends from Great Autos have invited LCOC to join them in a day of touring two fabulous automotive museums in Oxnard and sharing a relaxing no host lunch at a coastal restaurant on Saturday Aug. 12. Perfect summer weather and cool ocean breezes should make this excursion a delight.
Mark Tracy from Great Autos, mrbuick55@hotmail.com is coordinating attendance. If you are planning to attend, please contact Mark by Aug 5 with your name, email address and phone number, and the number of people in your party. Let him know you are from LCOC.
- The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. with free donuts as we gather in the San Fernando Valley (location TBA) to begin our journey to the Mullin Automotive Museum, 1421 Emerson Avenue, Oxnard, CA 93033. The Mullin opens at 10 a.m. and we plan to tour their beautiful classics and art deco treasures for approximately one hour and 45 minutes. The Mullin was founded in 2010 and strives to educate guests about 20th-century French automotive styling and design. The museum boasts nearly 47,000 square feet of exhibit space in an elegantly designed structure, which was previously owned by legendary newspaper publisher Otis Chandler. In addition to its sweeping gallery spaces, the museum includes a roof garden, theater, gift shop and archives.
Mullin requires that we purchase tickets in advance.
Tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for veterans and seniors 65 and over. Click here to buy tickets online. Be sure you scroll to the top of the page to ensure you are purchasing specifically for Aug. 12 only.
The Mullin’s permanent displays feature the largest private collection of Bugatti automobiles in the world as well as in-depth studies of the artistry, engineering and imagination of the Bugatti family. Beautiful and elegant (mostly French) cars and designs, furniture, sculpture, paintings, and engineering breakthroughs are highlighted throughout the museum. Even if you have been here before, you are sure to find something new on this visit, as the museum rotates temporary exhibits periodically.
- After leaving Mullin we will head to the Waterside Restaurant, 3500 S. Harbor Blvd, Ste 1-100, Oxnard, about noon for seaside views and a wonderful menu with a variety of reasonably priced options.
- Afterwards we will continue our day of touring at the nearby Murphy Auto Museum 1930 Eastman Ave, Oxnard, CA 93030. The Murphy houses a collection of nearly 50 stunning classic, vintage and antique cars from America’s past. It is also the only auto museum in the nation with a stand-alone Fireball Art Gallery featuring 8-10 amazing Southern California automotive artists. Other features include a Tiki Lounge, diecast car collection and a massive HO scale train set. The Murphy is open until 4 p.m.. giving us ample time to enjoy its attractions. Tickets are $10 payable at the door.
