Director’s Message: LCOC Meets Taking Shape; Here’s the Latest

With this message I can announce that plans for the 2021 Western National Meet are well underway. The tentative date is the weekend of May 20-23 and the proposed venue in Palm Springs is spectacular. Meet co-chairs Ron Cressy and John Burge have been working hard to ensure that the 2021 Western National Meet will as successful and memorable as our 2015 meet in San Diego. I’m very excited about this meet, as I’m sure you’ll be when you see the plans unfold over the coming months. But I want to remind everyone that it takes a lot more than a couple of people to put on a successful meet. We’ll need volunteers at all levels to ensure that this meet will be one of our best ever.

Speaking of National Meets, there are three big meets coming up this year that you surely won’t want to miss; the Western National Meet in Grand Junction, Colorado July 10-14, Ford Blue in Kalamazoo, August 7-12, and the Eastern National Meet in the historic region of the Hudson Valley, New York. For more information on these meets go to www.lcoc.org

Our Western Region Spring Meet is fast approaching on June 2, held at the Huntington Beach Concours. Over its 33-year history, the Huntington Beach Concours has grown to be one of the outstanding automotive events in Southern California.  First staged in 1986, the Concours has its home on the picturesque lawns of Huntington Beach Central Park. This year pony cars from 1964-1972 will be featured, along with Datsun and Nissan “Z” cars and Honda and BMW motorcycles. More information can be found in our “Events” section. The deadline for on-line registration is 12 noon on Wednesday, May 29.

Our website continues to improve and I believe it’s one of the best. We’ve added some new names to our list of trusted vendors, which can only be accessed by LCOC Western Region members through the Members Only tab at the top of the home page. You must log in to your account to view the Members Only tab. If you have a recommendation of a business or individual that you’d like us to add to the list please let me or one of our board members know.

Also, we’re always looking for events to add to our calendar. It’s not possible for us to arrange events in all parts of the region, so I’m relying on you, the members, to share some of your favorite shows and events with us so that more club members will be able to get together with others in their area.
