LCOC members Marv Wendt and Jan McNiel marvnjan@iwvisp.com are excited to announce and host an LCOC fall regional meet and social in their home town of Ridgecrest, CA, Nov. 5-7 celebrating friendship and camaraderie among our members. It’s time to crank up those classic Lincolns for a fun weekend just for LCOC members, family and friends.
We’ll gather on Friday Nov 5, remain overnight, and display our collector Lincolns at a low key, non-judged people’s choice car show on Saturday followed by a group awards dinner. Jan says, “we have not had a regional meet weekend just for our club for a few years. Our wish is to enjoy the friendships we have built within LCOC and bring our members together for a fun car event and social. Call it a ‘shine, show and socialize’ weekend.” Click the link LCOC fall meet registration form to access the registration form. Right click the form to print it out and complete and return it with your meet check to the address in the form.
There will be an informal show field with Peer Judging and awards. And we can promise no traffic. We will also provide information about the local area if you would like to go sightseeing on your own. We have three museums, a ghost town about ½ hour away and lots of desert. We have a small but cute historical shopping district and there is a Super Wal-Mart. Skiers heading north on Rt. 395 to Mammoth, June Mountain or Lake Tahoe areas have long enjoyed the amazing desert landscapes and spectacular scenery near Ridgecrest as part of the driving experience. The Maturango Museum in Ridgecrest highlights plants, animals and the natural features of the area and offers a fun optional adventure.
The meet headquarters hotel is the Rodeway Inn & Suites Heritage, 1050 N Norma St, Ridgecrest, CA 93555, phone 760.446.6543. Call them directly for reservations and tell them you are with LCOC, or the Lincoln and Continental Owners Club Rooms are in a block and will be $115 plus taxes. The hotel will be holding this block until October 26. And there will be an appropriate continental breakfast the morning of the show. Set on a leafy commercial street among casual eateries, this relaxed hotel is a mile from US-395 and 25 miles from the Trona Pinnacles geological formation in the California Desert National Conservation Area. Down-to-earth rooms offer complimentary WiFi, microwaves, minifridges, and tea and coffeemakers, plus flat-screen TVs. Suites add pull-out sofas.
Ridgecrest is located off U.S. Rt. 395 between Mojave and Bishop. It is about a 3-hour drive from L.A. and Orange County, 2-hours from Bakersfield, 3 and a half hours from Las Vegas and about 6 and a half hours by car from San Francisco or Sacramento areas. Early November is one of the best times of the year to visit, with daytime temperatures averaging in the low 70s, dipping to around 50 degrees in the evening.
