Part 1: A Full Day Enjoying Las Vegas Left LCOC Members Tired But Happy

An amazing Las Vegas day of tire kicking and socializing began before 9 a.m. on Saturday. In fact, so much action was packed into the experiences that one post just isn’t enough to cover it all! Today we’ll relive breakfast through lunch. Part 2 will cover Gateway Classics and Capo’s Speakeasy.

Our LCOC members and family gathered at local landmark Zenaida’s Cafe for a decadently  yummy breakfast which immediately got everyone in the mood for a fantastic day. The huge cinnamon pastries drenched in cream and garnished with fresh fruit were just the beginning.

Breakfast treat after treat emerged with perfect presentation and taste to match.  The jazz artwork and ambiance of this landmarks spot added to the fun. As if all this were not enough, our breakfast was topped off by wonderful homemade cookies with drizzles of white chocolate on top served on the house. Who could resist this one of-a-kind treat!

Our local board member, Rich Hall and his granddaughter Ashley led us to our next stop in style as his 1963 Lincoln convertible blazed the trail to the Red Rock.Canyon Overlook, where we marveled at the incredible scenery and enjoyed more LCOC tire kicking.

Rich,’s Lincoln’s powerful crate engine drew an admiring crowd as did Dave Ellsworth’s  striking blue 1968 Continental sedan.

As lunch approached Rich led us past amazing desert landscapes and a sign warning of wild burros.to the small nearby hamlet of Blue Diamond where a locals-only hidden gem awaited our arrival. Cottonwood Station, yet another historic restaurant with a unique pizza oven, held rustic photos of Blue Diamond’s mining days and featured reserved patio dining for our group. Gourmet sandwiches and other luncheon goodies were all part of the scene.

Suitably stuffed, we rumbled off across town to Gateway Classics for our own car display and to view the great vehicles within the Gateway warehouse. Event participants included:

Scott Balanda & Marvin Bautista2024 Nautilus

Elayne Bendel2012 MKZ Hybrid
