After lunch at Cottonwood Station, we motored off to yet another activity—- our afternoon scheduled visit to Gateway Classics, where special vehicles spanning 100 years of automotive history were on display and/or offered for consignment sale. A Cord tribute vehicle and a parade-ready Buick sedan, along with numerous mid -century-era Cadillacs, Chevrolets, Corvettes and other vehicles were on hand.

A pair of stunning Avantis looked brand new and totally hip more than a half century after they were built. A ’62 Thunderbird convertible drew many admiring glances even though it needs some work.

Numerous pre-war hot rods, roadsters and Broncos were part of the large collection. What a fun stroll down Memory Lane!

Outside, we displayed our own vehicles ranging from a gorgeous white Lincoln Town Coupe to Scott Balanda’s current generation Lincoln Nautilus and several other luxury brands including BMW and Lexus. Our thanks to Scott, Jm Ayres and Viraj Koirala for photos of our cars.

Several Mark Ii owners attended the event. Unfortunately, their vehicles are being made ready for their close ups and were not available for show this time. Hopefully soon. 😀
Our final event of the day was a unique dinner at Capo’s Speakeasy. Our own Lee Craner revealed this was site of his first date with lady friend Diana Pryor 14 years ago!
Yes, this establishment was exactly as advertised where a password was needed to enter and a dark and mysterious atmosphere prevailed. Menu specialties such as Gambino’s Garlic Cheesy Bread and Scarface Scampi were featured along with appropriate wines and alcoholic adult beverages.. Billed as Mafia Chic, Capo’s also headlined a sultry lounge singer, whose image was grabbed by Scott and who nabbed everyone’s attention in between bites.

We almost expected George Raft and Humphrey Bogart to emerge from the shadows. Alas, that was not to be, but what an action-filled day of LCOC fun was had by all! We can’t wait for more. 😀
We all expressed our thanks to hosts.Scott Balanda and Rich Hall for arranging a stellar weekend of Vegas adventure that will bring happy thoughts and memories for a long time.
