What could be better for Lincoln enthusiasts than two fabulous social events where cars are involved? LCOC has two exciting joint local events with other car clubs on tap right after the Labor Day holiday to close out a very busy summer prior to the LCOC Eastern National Meet in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. But we urge you to register now!
The first great event is the 2nd annual Big 4 American Luxury Car Meet and Picnic on Sunday Sept. 8 and the second is the annual Pageant of the Thunderbird on Saturday Sept 14, where LCOC is the honored club and Lincoln is the featured marque! This is truly special and you will want to tell your friends about this and bring them along.
LCOC members and their cars are cordially invited by the Earlybirds and Thunderbirds of Southern California, to be the Honor Club for the 45th Annual Pageant of the Thunderbird to be held at La Palma Park in Anaheim on Saturday Sept. 14 from 9 a.m.. to 2 p.m. at La Palma Park, 1151 N La Palma Pkwy, Anaheim, CA 92801. “Party time” is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The cost is $40. LCOC’s own Jim Ayres is in charge of the trophies for this event and strongly urges all club members to represent our club in style and the Lincoln brand at this stellar, traditional and historic event.
To register, contact Bob Claborne, (714) 539-7509, or Click here for more information and to access a registration form. . All Lincolns and Continentals are eligible to participate. Each entrant will receive a goodie bag and the first 100 registrants will receive a free T-shirt. A trophy will be awarded to a selected Lincoln and Continental. This event has been a Southern California tradition for close to half a century. But this is the first time they have honored a non-T’Bird organization. Besides the Lincolns, all Thunderbirds from 1955 to 2005 may register. Trophies will be awarded in several T-Bird classes.
The Big 4 Meet is at Laguna Niguel Regional Park – Shelter #4, Sept 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 28241 La Paz Road, Laguna Niguel., CA. Last year’s inaugural event, a cooperative effort among three car clubs featuring Lincolns, Cadillacs and Imperials, was an instant hit—a sellout—-that was limited to the first 50 participants who signed up. This year we’ve expanded the event to the first 75 participants and added Packard fans, clubs and vehicles to the mix. But you must act quickly before the 2019 event sells out.
Already there has been a tremendous response from the sister car clubs. We at LCOC are encouraged to outnumber the other luxury brands at this show by displaying our beauties for all to enjoy. This is not a judged event and any year Lincoln, Continental or Zephyr is welcome regardless of condition. In fact, if you have a concours vehicle, a project car or daily driver that you haven’t taken to any other car event this year the Big 4 Meet and Picnic might be the very low key, casual one you’d enjoy the most. Even pets on a leash are welcome!
Laguna Niguel Park is close to the ocean and those lovely Pacific breezes that keep temperatures moderate near the coast. The 10 a.m. Sunday start time for tire kicking and socializing ensures low-traffic enroute and the price is right—just $5 per car to enter the park and $5 per person in advance for the food essentials. Imperial Club members will bring the main course food items with enough food for 8 people, LCOC – Salad and side dishes, Cadillac and LaSalle Club SoCal – appetizers and drinks, and Packard clubs – desserts. Stay as long as you’d like, but leave right after lunch if it fits your schedule.
