Online publication Autoevolution has reported that surging sales this year have induced Lincoln to announce introduction of two new models. The current product line includes four utility vehicles, the Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator, and flagship Navigator. All four have either have been facelifted or redesigned since last year and sales are up.
According to AutoNews, the brand’s sales rose 23 percent in the first seven months of the year. The news outlet quotes Lincoln President Dianne Craig as stating that the company’s market share is up one percent. Lincoln is finally on track to sell at least 100,000 vehicles this year, for the first time since 2020, when both the MKZ and Continental sedans were discontinued after the model year.
With both Cadillac and Genesis offering luxury sedans Lincoln has been out of the sedan market for several years. Traditionalists, including many LCOC members, have repeatedly clamored for a new Lincoln sedan model and numerous enthusiasts have created renderings of potential new Lincolns. Lincoln, itself has created concept cars including the Star and Model L100. See below. The company also has been working with the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena for advanced design concepts.
Lincoln seems aware of customer desires, as it has just confirmed plans to launch two new models in the United States. However, it is unclear whether they will be completely new vehicles or simply updated versions of existing cars. The Corsair is due for phaseout after the 2025 model year. So, is one of the new models a Corsair replacement, an EV, or, fingers-crossed, a new sedan?
Time will tell, and we’ll let you know when we know. Meanwhile, keep enjoying those collectible Lincolns and support our LCOC events such as our meet-within-a-meet at the Sept. 14 Pageant of the Thunderbird and our Oct. 5 Big 4 America Luxury Car Show and Picnic.
