Seldom does anything with a ton of advance hype exceed expectations, but the gorgeous 2019 coach door 80th Anniversary Continental is bigger, more beautiful and more luxurious in person than in its photos. It just has to be seen to be believed! Take a look at the images above and below to get a small sense of what a few lucky LCOC members previewed March 23 at the Lincoln Experience Center (LEC) in Newport Beach. No wonder all 80 that were built this year sold out in just 48 hours, despite their hefty luxury car price tag. The coach door design adds six inches to the overall length. While this does not seem like much, the available leg room in the rear would make even the tallest passenger comfortable with plenty of room to spare. Nor are the front seat occupants short-changed in terms of spaciousness. I look forward to the day I can ride to the airport in style in this beauty.
The Crystal Blue prototype Continental has been on tour for the past few weeks and was introduced to Southern Californians at a special preview party planned and executed by the LEC staff. Delicious roast lamb with mint sauce was the culinary highlight,, but champagne, hors oeuvres, gourmet sweet treats, brewed coffees and punch enhanced the event. Production Anniversary Continentals will be arriving at dealers in the next few weeks but if you want to see one act quickly before they all go home with their 80 lucky owners.
Lincoln officials told us more coach door Continentals would be built in 2020, but they were coy about how many could be expected. This model is certain to be an instant classic and joins Lincoln’s updated line of utility vehicles headed by the very popular Navigator and including the Nautilus, Aviator and MKC plus the standard Continental and MKZ sedans.
