Wow! Wow! WOW! The best of Detroit was on display as four American luxury brands glittered at the 2nd annual Big 4 American Luxury Car Meet and Picnic on a perfect late summer day at Laguna Niguel Regional Park. The Sept. 8 event drew about 80 participants and nearly 40 cars, a fantastic showing in only the 2nd year of this very fun event. Imperials, Cadillacs, Packards uhand Lincolns—keen rivals in the marketplace decades ago—shared the spotlight in the spirit of friendship before and during a sumptuous potluck lunch and social.
For the second straight year the Southern California Imperial Owners, Inc. (SCIOI) hosted assisted by LCOC, Southern California Cadillac and La Salle Club and two area Packard clubs added in 2019. Displays included a gorgeous red 1934 Packard Phaeton, a Washington, D.C. Packard (?!!) police car, sparkling convertibles of all four makes and luxury coupes and sedans. Every car had a unique history and every owner was eager to share their story. With no vehicle judging, the guests were free to simply enjoy the beauty and deluxe features of the cars and swap experiences.
A large buffet of appetizers and salads, main dishes and desserts, water and soft drinks filled tummies. Even some well-behaved pets made the scene. Participants came from as far away as the San Fernando Valley, San Diego, Palm Springs and even Yuma, Arizona! Next year be sure to plan your participation in the Big 4 Meet to be hosted by the Cadillac and LaSalle Club. You won’t want to miss it!
