LCOC Western Region’s first joint event with the San Diego Cadillac and LaSalle Club (CLC) started with a “bang” and ended as a “hit.” Both groups were encouraged to bring their big gangster cars for a bit of tire kicking, trunk measuring and body stashing before dinner. Period dress also was encouraged and most attendees arrived in their best gangster or moll attire.
The meet-up took place on the top level of the Bloomingdale’s parking garage in San Diego’s Fashion Valley Mall. The capos were undoubtedly off pulling other jobs so only the family heads were on hand.
Nevertheless all trunks were measured for size prior to body stashing. The biggest trunk award went to Ron and Vicky Hartinger. Hmmmmm. One can only wonder how many corpses it would hold!
Dinner inside Bloomingdale’s 59th & Lex Cafe highlighted the evening. Props included paper money, gold foil-wrapped chocolate coins and cigars, $ necklaces for all, and Godfather posters and photos. Bottles of 19 Crimes wine were awarded to Godfather Trivia winners. It was certainly a night to remember at an event we couldn’t refuse!
Organizer Julie Brackx and her team deserve an underboss salute and thanks for planning and executing this unique and fun car club event. We hope to schedule another joint event with her and the Cadillac and LaSalle Club in the near future.
