Petersen Automotive Virtual Car Week is Scheduled for Aug. 12-16

Classic car fans can rejoice in The Petersen Car Week, that will include numerois events similar to those of the Monterey car week, among them a virtual car tour, a live auction, vehicle unveilings, a marque-specific show dedicated to Porsche, a hypercar show, a concept car show-within-a-show, a virutal San Marino Motor Classic, and a show focused on vintage racing. The week will conclude with a Concours d’Elegance scheduled for August 16, the same day that the now-canceled Pebble Beach concours would have taken place. Most of the events – except for the live auctions and the live Forza-based virtual vintage racing – will rely on videos submitted to the Petersen; all of the videos will then broadcast via the Petersen’s YouTube channel.  Click Subscribe for the link to the channel to view events and be notified when broadcasts will occur.


2020 San Marino Motor Classic Goes Virtual; Video Entries Due by July 10

Good news for collector car buffs throughout our entire LCOC Western Region! The San Marino Motor Classic in conjunction with the Petersen Automotive Museum invites you to enter your collector car in a one day virtual car show to be aired on August 13, 2020 from 10:15 to 11 a.m. All entries will be judged. Awards to winners. Per the old cliche, you do not need to be present to win, but you do need to enter.

After two attempts to hold the popular event live this year were cancelled due to COVID-19, organizers have restructured this year’s classic into a virtual show with prizes being awarded in numerous classes.

Entrants are being asked to submit 90-second video tours of their vehicles no later than July 10 following a prescribed format.

Two easy steps to entering your car:

1.) Make a fantastic 90-second video presentation of your car by following the directions listed under the photo below.

Upload your video to Dropbox or Google Drive and then submit the video by sending your presentation to

Record a 90-second video of your vehicle using your phone

Include exterior, interior, engine, & start up.

Suggested Equipment – Always shoot in landscape (horizontal) format

  • Apple iPhone 8 or newer/Samsung Galaxy S9 or newer
  • Camera person or tripod
  • (optional) DJI phone gimbal
  • (optional) Lavalier microphone


  • (Ideal) cloudy weather, early morning, or dusk
  • If in direct sunlight, please ensure the sun is in front of your vehicle
  • Open air free of other vehicles or objects
